1026 Madison [potential new space]

by willow on March 2, 2010

in News

We’ve found a great potential space for Jigsaw to grow into! While Artillery has been rad, it’s a bit too out of the way and a bit too small for us to widen our community, teach bigger classes, and hold events.

To that end, we’ve been working on-list* to find The Perfect Space (bum bum buuummm). We found a potential one in Fremont, but it was prohibitive to loud noises and was lacking in good ventilation. We’ve found another one on First Hill, at 1026 Madison. I wanted to share it on the website, so hopefully others will be as excited as we are!

high ceilings!

high ceilings!

It is 1,832 sq ft with a large front room, high ceilings, and full-length windows. The floor is concrete with a thin layer of carpet over the top (we could put down new carpet if we destroy this set).

wheelchair ramp!

It’s wheelchair accessible, and we can paint the walls. The remnants of the former business are still there, but will be removed shortly.

It has a fair-sized back room, long hallway, storage, and bathroom (which is large enough to install a shower into as well). The plumbing is also capable of taking on a kitchen.

At this space, we’d have room for big gatherings, 6 (or so) permadesk stations, lots of space for tools and shared work tables, eventually a kitchen (hopefully not *too* far off!), etc.

So… what do you think? If we were here, would you want to participate?
