Ordinarily, the first post from a new blogger would be an introduction. However, it’s PAX weekend and I’ve spent most of the last few days introducing myself to people (often following it up with, “So, you wanna hire an animator?”) and so I’m going to bypass that today and instead talk about the physical space here at Jigsaw Renaissance.
JR is located at 1026 Madison St in Seattle in an area known as First Hill. Unofficially the area holds the moniker ‘pill hill’ because of all the hospitals in the area. Jigsaw is conveniently located two blocks from two very nice emergency rooms and about a mile from the area’s level one trauma center at Harborview. Fortunately, we haven’t had to use either of them as yet.
Jigsaw itself is in a retail space, located between a convenience store run by a great guy Lawrence, and a payday loan place. We can be a bit hard to find, which is why there’s usually a little sign in front of the space.
Not the store’s pretty sign advertising the tax on people who are not mathematically inclined (also called the ‘lottery’), but rather this spiffy sign here. It’s painted in black chalkboard paint so the exact contents tend to vary from day to day.
Later on, I’m going to post pictures from inside the space. We’ve made a lot of changes around here lately and more are to come in the next month when we put in the mezzanine and finish building out the kitchen.
